People have debated for years whether or dogs are better pets than cats but the truth it is that depends on your lifestyle and preferences. If you live an in an apartment where you neighbors wouldn’t appreciate hearing your dog barking, you might want to consider a cat. If there are many other dogs in the building or neighborhood, you might have a problem with dog fights. Cats and dogs are very different pets but one is not better than another. Which is a better pet really depends on your personal preferences and your lifestyle. If you live in an apartment or a rented house, you should check with your landlord before getting a pet. Some allow cats and dogs, some don’t allow pets at all.
So you want to get a dog
So your child fell in love with the cute cartoon dogs on TV and now wants a dog that he or she can dress up in cute dog clothes and play with. If you live in an apartment or a small house, small dogs are best. Large dogs, like a hunting dog or large and very active breeds like a pitbull, need lots of room to run around in order to be healthy. If you don’t have a large yard or can’t regularly take them to a dog park where they can run off the leash, you should not get one of these dogs. Some cities have breed restrictions so you should check with your city to see if pitbull puppies are allowed. If you don’t have a lot of room you are better off getting a small dog. Small, cut pug puppies are a popular choice for apartment dwellers.
How To Find Your New Dog
Talk to other dog owners in your neighborhood to find a reliable breeder with small dogs for sale. Sometimes you can find a free puppy in the newspaper classifieds, but many times unscrupulous people will try to get rid of sick puppies by giving them away for free. Sometimes breeders will try to get rid of puppies with genetic defects caused by mating dogs who are too closely related in the classifieds as well. Be sure you have a vet check over any puppy before you bring it home. Your local pet store or anyplace that sells dog supplies or pet supplies should be able to recommend a good vet and local breeder or a local shelter that will have puppies and dogs you can adopt for a small fee.
